Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about making international phone calls with My Mondo

The things you need to know

Where can I use My Mondo?
My Mondo can be used to make cheap calls from any phone, anywhere in the UK. From a landline at home or in the office or from a mobile phone on any UK network. Even payphones. All you need to do is find the My Mondo access number for the country you wish to call. Dial that access number, then dial 00, the country code followed by the number you wish to reach. The cost of your international call will appear on your next phone bill. Full details of using My Mondo with your network operator can be found on the Where can I use My Mondo? page.

Can I call right now?

Yes. There's no wait or hassle to get started. No accounts to set-up or pre-pay. No need to change your phone, line or number.

Which countries can I call?

You can dial landlines and mobiles in hundreds of countries. Just go to our homepage or our Countries & rates page.

How does it work?
My Mondo is an instant dial service, one of the new generation of phone products. In the old days the only way people could make cheap international calls was to use a pre-paid calling card now you can be spared from handing your cash over to unscrupulous card companies. My Mondo is explained fully on our How it works page.

I haven't got a BT phone
Don't worry you can use My Mondo from any UK phone network. We quote our rates from the network that most people phone from and that is a BT residential (home) line. My Mondo charges are as stated on this website.

If you are phoning from a different phone service provider eg Virgin Phone, OneTel or Talk Talk the My Mondo service works in exactly the same way.

However networks other than BT can choose to add a small surcharge to the My Mondo tariff if they wish to. These networks keep this charge for themselves. At the time of writing My Mondo charges were the same when using BT, Virgin Phone, Tesco Home Phone, OneTel and Talk Talk lines. We urge you to check with your own network service provider before using My Mondo as they may change their rates without warning. We will always inform you when we change our tariffs though.

What about international calling from a mobile?
No problem, you can benefit from My Mondo's cheap call rates when you are on the move. The My Mondo mobile page explains how to make international calls from a mobile on any UK mobile phone network. As well as how much it will cost, how to program your handset to speed dial you frequently called numbers and even how to make free international mobile phone calls.

Do I need an account?
No. You can call right now without any comittment. Unlike home phone services there is no setting up an account and paying to charge up the credit.

Are there any PIN numbers?
No. Unlike prepaid calling cards or home phone accounts all you need is the My Mondo access code to make an international call. Our Countries & rates page lists them all.

What's the country dialling code?
No problem. We've listed the world's major international dialling codes in one place.

What time should I make my call?
No more waking up friends and family by calling in the middle of their night. The current time in every time zone is on our world clock page.

How much does it cost?
All calls will be billed directly by your local service provider (eg, BT, Virgin Phone, Orange) at the rates quoted. There will be NO bills from us. You will see the call on your next telephone bill from your current service provider. Full details can be found on the How much does it cost? page. Also details of our flat rate per second charging and details of how My Mondo is free from any hidden charges.

How can I make sure you are a trustworthy company?
The My Mondo service is regulated by, and strictly adheres to the guidelines and regulations, of Ofcom and PhonepayPlus. These are the two UK independent telephony regulatory bodies that have jurisdiction over the service that My Mondo provides.

PhonepayPlus is the body that regulates all premium rate number services. That's the My Mondo access numbers that start with 09 (the ones that cost 15p per minute and more). The PhonepayPlus website will give full information about their role.

Ofcom (The Office of Communications) is the regulator for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services. The Ofcom website will give full information about their role.
